Total sales in over the financial year increase by 17 percent in the USA

Stuttgart. Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, continued its upward trend in the US market in July. The manufacturer of premium sports cars delivered 2,703 units to customers, which corresponds to an increase of around 75 percent compared to the same month last year. All in all, Porsche sold 22,180 vehicles in the USA in the last financial year, which ended on July 31, 2010; around 17 percent more than the previous financial year.

The increase indicates that Porsche is also back on the path to success in its largest sales market following the global financial and economic crisis.

Sales of the Panamera continue to develop excellently. 807 units of the four-door Gran Turismo were delivered in July. This is the highest number since the series was introduced on the US market on October 17, 2009.

Selling even better is the new generation of the Cayenne SUV, which has been available in the USA since June 2010. 910 units of this series were delivered in July, an increase of around 68 percent compared to the same month last year.

Sales of the 911 series decreased by about nine percent to 594 vehicles, while those of the mid-engine Boxster and Cayman sports cars increased by more than eleven percent to a total of 392 units.

Stuttgart. In June, the US market developed extremely successfully for Dr. Ing h. c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart: deliveries to customers soared to 2,141 cars. This corresponds to an increase of 137 percent, as compared with the same month of the previous year (902 cars). The new generation of the sporty utility vehicle Cayenne, 496 (+ 80 percent) of which were sold at the beginning of the month when it was first introduced in the US, has been outstandingly well received.

Equally pleasing is the great interest shown in the new Panamera Gran Turismo, which sold 739 cars in June, reaching the highest level of sales since it was introduced. The sales of Porsche icon 911 increased significantly compared to the previous year: 544 US customers decided to purchase the coveted sports car (+ 48 percent). In the mid-engine model range, Boxster sales increased by 75 percent with 240 cars sold in June; Cayman sales remained more or less stable with 123 deliveries (- 1 percent).

After the first six months of the current calendar year, Porsche sold a total of 10,984 vehicles in the US. This corresponds to an increase of 14 percent, as compared to the same period of the previous year.

Additional Drive Variants Entering the Market

Stuttgart. Starting deliveries of the two six-cylinder models Cayenne and Cayenne Diesel, Dr. Ing. h.c. F. Porsche AG, Stuttgart, is rounding off the market launch of the Company’s new generation of SUVs. Both models combine features typical of the Cayenne such as highly comfortable sportiness and superior offroad driving qualities with truly outstanding efficiency on average fuel consumption of less than 10 litres/100 kilometres or better than 28.3 mpg imp. (approximately 23.5 mpg US )

Equipped with Tiptronic S, the new Cayenne offers average fuel consumption in the New European Driving Cycle of just 9.9 ltr/100 km, equal to 28.5 mpg imp, about 20 per cent better than on the former model. On the Cayenne Diesel fuel consumption is also down by 20 per cent from 9.3 to 7.4 ltr/100 km, that is an improvement from 30.4 to 38.2 mpg imp. (This amounts to approzimately 31.8 mpg US gallon, NOTE: The Cayenne diesel is NOT available in the US)

A further important point is that the diesel, reducing CO2 emissions to 195 g/km, remains below the important limit of 200 grams CO2 per kilometre. And last but not least, both models comply in full with the Euro 5 emission standard.

The significant reduction of fuel consumption throughout the entire Cayenne model range comes, among other things, from the introduction of the new Tiptronic S eight-speed automatic transmission with Auto Start Stop and an extra-wide spread of gear ratios. Other factors are thermal management and recuperation of the on-board network as well as, not least, a significant reduction of weight thanks to intelligent lightweight engineering. These improvements also serve to provide even greater agility, performance and driving dynamics and, as a result, even greater driving pleasure.

The Cayenne is powered by a 300 hp (220 kW) 3.6-litre V6 petrol engine combined in standard trim with a six-speed manual gearbox. This accelerates the Cayenne from a standstill to 100 km/h in 7.5 seconds (Tiptronic S: 7.8 seconds) and provides a top speed of 230 km/h or 143 mph.

The new Cayenne offers even greater driving pleasure than before both offroad and onroad, combined with even greater everyday driving value, comfort, and elegance. To give driver and passengers even more space within the interior, together with greater variability, wheelbase is up over the former models by 40 millimetres or 1.6”. The overall increase in length, on the other hand, is 48 millimetres or 1.9”. The rear seat bench adjusts to-and-fro by 160 millimetres or 6.3”, with the backrest angle adjusting on request to three different positions.

Further features included in the wide range of standard equipment on the six-cylinder Cayenne now comprise two-zone automatic air conditioning, cruise control, a Headlight Assistant, and the CDR-31 audio system operated from a touchscreen.

Both the Cayenne and the Cayenne Diesel now also come as standard on 18-inch wheels. New driver assistance systems such as a Lane Change Assistant and Adaptive Cruise Control are available as an option, just like the PDLS Porsche Dynamic Light System for variable management of the headlights in accordance with current requirements as well as the Burmester High-End Surround Sound System with 16 channels and 1,000 Watt maximum output.

Built to national specifications, the Cayenne sells in Germany at a price of Euro 55,431.– including 19 per cent value-added tax, (approximately $68,650.00 USD).  the Cayenne Diesel comes at a price of Euro 59,596.–, again with VAT.

The Diesel is NOT available to US customers: The U.S. Diesel Laws are antiquated and seriously need revision to reflect today’s technology  - Write your congressman.

All-new SUV debuts in Geneva with more room, technology, performance, and significantly less weight and fuel consumption

ATLANTA – February 25, 2010 – Led by a technologically advanced full hybrid model, the all-new, next-generation Porsche Cayenne sport-utility vehicle will debut at the Geneva motor show in early March. In line with the Porsche Intelligent Performance philosophy, the entire range, from the entry level Cayenne with a V6 engine to the 500-horsepower Cayenne Turbo, all deliver improved performance while using less fuel and producing fewer emissions than ever before.

The New Porsche Cayenne will make its North American debut at the New York International Auto Show (press days: March 31 and April 1, public days: April 2-11). The Cayenne S and Cayenne Turbo go on sale in July as a 2011 model, and U.S. pricing will be announced soon. Porsche dealerships will offer the Cayenne and Cayenne S Hybrid in the fall.

The highlight is the new Cayenne S Hybrid featuring a highly sophisticated parallel full hybrid drive system. With a combined power output of 380 horsepower from the supercharged V6 combustion engine and an electric motor, the Cayenne S Hybrid combines the performance of a V8 with the economy of a V6.

Through continuous interaction between the 3.0-liter supercharged V6 and electric motor, the Cayenne S Hybrid focuses on maximum efficiency. Depending on driving conditions, either drive unit can operate independently or together. The 47-horsepower (34 kW) electric motor is the ideal partner for the 333-horsepower engine, which produces high torque at low engine speeds. With peak torque at 427 lb-ft at just 1,000 rpm, the Cayenne S Hybrid’s performance is on par with a V8-powered Cayenne S.

The Cayenne S Hybrid’s two drive units are connected by a decoupling clutch. A hybrid controller constantly coordinates their complex interaction, and intelligent management of the clutch makes the transition among various driving modes seamless. Like many hybrids, the Cayenne S Hybrid can cover short distances on electric power alone, free of emissions and noise up to 60 km/h or almost 40 mph. For aggressive acceleration, the motor provides an extra ‘boost’ to the gasoline engine.

What makes the Cayenne S Hybrid unique is its ability to cruise at high speeds on electric power alone. The gasoline engine can be completely switched off and disengaged from the drivetrain at speeds of up to 97 mph. Christened by the Weissach engineers as ‘sailing’ – or cruising — mode, the drag forces exerted by the combustion engine and their braking effect are eliminated in the interest of lower resistance and fuel consumption.

All new-generation Cayenne SUVs set high standards for efficiency and performance. Compared with the former models, fuel consumption is down by up to 23 percent in the New European Driving Cycle and CO2 emissions are significantly reduced, despite the increased performance. Actual EPA-certified fuel economy figures will be available when the cars go on sale in North America in July.

A new eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission with a wide range of gear ratios and the Automatic Start Stop function (first introduced on the Panamera) contribute to these improvements. So does efficient thermal management of the engine and transmission cooling circuits, on-board electrical network recuperation, variable deceleration fuel cut-off and the Cayenne’s intelligent lightweight construction.

Thanks to a special combination of materials as well as changes in the overall vehicle concept, such as a new all-wheel drive system, weight has been significantly reduced on all models. Despite an even higher standard of safety, the Cayenne S is 400 lbs lighter, which not only improves fuel consumption and lowers emissions, but also boosts performance, agility, and handling.

The completely new Cayenne design leaves no doubt that it is part of the Porsche family. Its sporting character is evident from all angles, and its Porsche shape and design highlights are more distinct than ever before.

The new Cayenne is 1.9 inches longer than its predecessor, and an added 1.6 inches in wheelbase ensures extra space and greater versatility. But despite larger exterior dimensions, the new Cayenne looks far more compact and dynamic.

Inside, the luxurious interior features a high center console that, like the Panamera, rises up at an incline to meet the dashboard center stack with high-quality fittings and a touch-screen infotainment interface. Porsche’s traditional set of five round instruments in the drivers gauge cluster includes a high-resolution circular TFT screen to the right of the tachometer. It can be used to change radio stations, vehicle settings, or access the navigation system or view the map. Rear-seat comfort is much improved, as well. The bench slides fore-and-aft by 6.3 inches, while the backrest can be adjusted to three different angles.

The entry-level Cayenne with its 300-horsepwer 3.6-liter V6 engine and mated to the new eight-speed Tiptronic S automatic transmission consumes 20 percent less fuel in the New European Driving Cycle than its predecessor.

Fuel consumption is also down significantly on the high-torque Cayenne S. Its 4.8-liter V8 produces 400 horsepower, 15 more than the previous model. When combined with the overall weight savings, performance is markedly increased, yet fuel consumption is down by 23 percent in the New European Driving Cycle.

The Cayenne Turbo, with its 500-horsepower, 4.8-liter twin-turbocharged V8 also consumes 23 percent less fuel than its predecessor despite its improved performance and acceleration.

Together with the Cayenne S Hybrid, three of the new Cayenne models produce less than 200 grams of CO2 per kilometer. At 193 g/km, the Cayenne S Hybrid is not only the cleanest Cayenne model, but also the cleanest vehicle in Porsche’s entire portfolio.
