This car has always held a special place in my imagination as it was one of Porsche's earliest outright wins. In August 1952, 13th through the 17th, it was put in competition for the 22nd running of the Liege-Rome-Liege Rally. Blasting across Europe from North to South and back again Helmut Polensky and Walter Schluter took overall first place. The car has an aluminum body, chassis number 356 2-061, engine P40010/A, gearbox 1503R. Commonly referred to as a Gmund Coupe it is also proper to use the designation 356SL.

I've depicted the car storming through the Alps midway into the event.

PLUS:

  • Jim Pasha – on turbos.
  • Bill Agnew – continues to work on his Boxster.
  • Plus nearly 800 Porsche ads!
