928 ISSUE
928! From a design point of view the 928 is troublesome. The shape, designed to look like it is keeping a rear engine but actually having a front mounted V-8 water-cooled motor, is too smooth. The designers took extra pains to remove any extemporaneous features that might impair the line of the car. In doing so, a critic of the time said, "the designers have given no place on the body to stop your eye", effectively allowing your eye to slip right off the car. Those that "get" the 928 are legion. For me, my favorite view is the one depicted, front, up high, looking down. Here you can see those great fender bulges that often get overlooked from the side. Michael Jekot, jekot@bitstream.net
